IT’S FINALLY HERE!!!
Some would say as they waited patiently and furiously over a pproject that was scheduled to come out months ago. We first heard of the project on “The Joe Budden Podcast” when artist formerly known as Young Berg, now Hitmaka first talked about the project and even played a few tracks during the sleeper segment of the cast himself. It was on Episode 115 that we were blessed and heard the two together and instantly grabbed the attention of not only Joe, Rory, and Mal but that of the audience. Since that moment it was on, people were waiting to hear the project which was scheduled for 2018.
The project was not given a specific date which was fine it just made the fans more anxious and ready to hear the music even more. This is normal as musicians and producers tease music all the time. This time we were allowed to have sample tracks instead of the famous 15 second instagram clips that Meek Mill and a few other artists have perfected. So everyone was good with what we got for now.
Hitmaka came back in 2018 on the Podcast to speak about the Grammy Awards, who got snubbed, and what they got right. Along with that he brought more music from “Mih-TY” this time he played “FYT”, a sample of Biggie’s song “Fucking You Tonight”, which instantly made move your head back and forth and captures your ears. This made people look forward to the project even more.
The next few months were filled with happiness and frustration as we were getting songs from the album with “The Light” and “New Level” Feat. Lil Wayne, but the album wasn’t here. It seemed as if every time we took 5 steps forward we took 4 back, by back I mean the album was pushed back multiple times. Whether it’s the fault of the label, artist, or producer the ones who lose in this situation is the fans as they are being deprived of the amazing music that could come out.
After a year of waiting “Mih-Ty is finally here and while I rarely say things are worth the wait, the project definitely lives up to expectations. Another thing to take into consideration is that it is an appropriate length for an album as well. Too often we get long albums that drag on. But this album gives us 11 tracks of mixed sounds that are produced well and has two talented musicians/writers that know how to make hits. But this album does not seemed forced at all, it seems like these three were supposed to make this album and are supposed to make more in the future as well. As a person who appreciates quality over quantity and only wants music when the artist is ready, I can wait another year for a second “Mih-ty” project. The simply sounds good, it’s not just good for today’s R&B, or because of the 90’s samples it’s a melodic sounding record that has hidden gems.
