The Joe Budden Podcast *From left to right* (Rory, Mal & Joe)

Podcasting has been on the rise in the last couple of years. Reaching a level it has never been at before. It has taken the media game with everyone and their mother having one, including The D.A.M. Podcast. https://soundcloud.com/cozyvargas-7/sets/the-dam-podcast.

People are able to get on multiple platforms including, iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud, and much more. There are even podcast organizations such as PodcastOne and The Loud Speakers Network (Rest in Peace Combat Jack). In the world of Hip-Hop, there is one podcast that has taken the game by storm and that is The Joe Budden Podcast. Formally known as “I’ll Name This Podcast Later” which could be top 5 greatest names for a podcast ever. The Mission started in 2015 3 years ago with Joe, Marissa, Rory, and even Peter Rosenberg in the background. There was no Mal yet only mention and some guest appearances. The “For Now” retired rapper was giving us content while flexing his lyrical miracle pen at the same time (inside joke).

As a follower/fan of Joe Budden since the A loose Quarter mixtape which came out in 2012, it has been a long yet eventful road to success. With multiple albums coming out, and even a memorable spot on Love and Hip Hop New York, Joe was always now but not always liked by others. From pump it up to now, multiple beefs have arisen and the diss track guru even went at the biggest artist/rap star in the world, Drake. With all of his thoughts and ideas no longer culminating to 15-minute songs like “Who killed Hip Hop”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJPpx8vHoII, Joe Budden created a movement with the same tool he has his whole career, a microphone. Joseph has always been a vocal person and a great personality, he was just someone who needed a platform to preach to an audience that would listen. “A Loose Quarter”, “No Love Lost”, “Some Love Lost”, “All Love Lost”, to “Rage and The Machine”, we went on a journey with the so-called “Angry/grumpy” rapper. Dealing with relationship issues and addiction to drugs, we fast forward to Budden finding a soulmate and welcoming another child as well. The hard-nosed vet rebranded his way to stardom and gained respect along the way.

Joe Budden & P Diddy

We are now in august sitting in the 3rd quarter of 2018 and The Joe Budden Podcast has inked a deal with Spotify which will begin on September 12th. This is added to the Revolt deal that Joe Budden and P Diddy signed at the beginning of the year coming off of Budden’s amazing few months at Complex. When asked about the Spotify deal Joe responded with this statement

“Our partnership is extremely humbling for me and adds yet another chapter to a career full of plot twists. This highlights a new way of thinking & a corporate ‘head nod’ to the shift taking place before our very eyes. I’m even more thrilled to embark on this journey with some of my closest friends and people I love. The podcast has been a great amplifier for my voice but fast-growing into a platform for more and more artists to share their own personal feelings, stories and experiences. I’m anxious to get started and optimistic about what’s to come. While companies are spending endless amounts of dollars and research to find out what consumers want, how they want it and who they want it from, we’re in a space where all you have to do is listen to the people. Again, thank you Spotify for listening.”

It’s safe to say that Joe Budden is having a hell of a year and a great post rap career to add, and his deals show how aging in Hip-Hop can be done properly and in a graceful yet raw fashion. So far it’s been a crazy experience filled with ups and down’s but what’s life without controversy, and the strong crew of Joe, Rory, Mal, Parks, Savon, and Erickson are headed for more greatness as the mission continues.
