SUMMER WALKER

As a fairly newer act in the game Summer Walker’s name has been appearing more and more lately. Her one song “Girls need love too” has become very popular and more and more people are starting to take notice of her. Her latest project “Last day of Summer” dropped in the fall of last year but Summr is already hard at work and is not letting up at all. The momentum she has is steady and she may be the next to break. Of course it’s always easier said than done but Walker looks like she could have a bright future ahead of her and can make a name for herself in the industry as well.

SUMMER WALKER — “LAST DAY OF SUMMER”

This album takes a very different yet intuitive approach in the way it is set up and structured. What could be attractive about the album to some is a gripe to one critic. The album looks long at first glance, but look closer each of the tracks are very short. Now it seems like we are moving closer, or are in an era already where this is the norm. However, with this album you can truly feel the length of each track is not long enough. It’s like right when you get into it….. the music suddenly stops. Now it’s still great music but when you love a song you may want it to be just a tad longer so you can enjoy all parts of it.

SUMMER WALKER

Summer is only 22 and has a long ways to go but here new EP shows she already has found her sound and is sticking with it. There is not that much out there about her other than the fact that she has blown up immensely off of one record and is from Atlanta Georgia. This just goes to show you how talented of an area Georgia is and the great music and great artists that are coming from that area as well.

SUMMER WALKR — “CLEAR” EP

As you can see by the cover, this is going to be a very melancholy project. Now it is an EP so it’s very short. This is perfectly fine because that’s the job of an EP it’s supposed to be a short sample of what the artist has been working on. It can also be a window to what they could possibly put out in the near or distant future. This EP is very instrument based, in the beginning of each track you hear an instrument start it off. First it’s the guitar, on the next two tracks we hear the snare of the hi-hat of the drums first. Finally we get to hear the bass come into play on the last song. It is very easy to get sucked into this project as her voice is so soothing over these instruments. As much as I love the new R&B sound I will always be a fan of just raw instruments. When you can feel like the instrument and the artist are one, that’s a sign they’ve done a great job.
